Christmas Fair

Sunday 26 November 1.00-3.00 pm
Stalls can be hired for the day at a cost of £25. If you are a business owner or have a business contact and would be able to secure a prize for our ballot/rickety wheel please let us know. You can do this by leaving details at school office or alternatively by email: olqoppa@gmail.com

Anti-Bullying Week

Next week is Anti-Bullying Week. We will be sending some information home to parents to better inform them of what we do as a school to prevent bullying. The children will have an Anti-bullying Assembly and will also take part is some activities. School Closure

The school will be closed for Halloween Monday 30th October - Friday 3rd November inclusive. School will re-open on Monday 6th November.

School Disco

The Parents Association will hold the first pupil disco of the year. It will take place on Friday 27th October (the last night before half term), 6.00pm-7.00pm for P1-P3 and 7.15pm-8.30pm for P4-P7. We encourage all our pupils and parents to support the school in all our ventures in the coming year. Each child will be given a permission slip home this week. This slip should be completed and brought with £3 to the Disco on Friday. The disco is not fancy dress.

100 Club

Once again this year we are organizing the 100 club. For £20 for the year you can pick a number for a monthly draw of £50. This number will remain yours for the rest of the year. This proved very popular last year with our parents and we hope you will be able to support this again this year. Letters will go out this week and all returns should be made by the following Friday 20th October.

Mrs Fox

We had to say goodbye to our colleague and friend Mrs Fox our Classroom Assistant on Friday as she has left to take up a new position. We are sorry to see her go and we wish her every success in her new position. The school will not be the same without her

Parents Association

The first meeting of the year for our Parents' Association will take place in the school on Wednesday 11th October at 7.00pm. This group of parents fulfil such an important role for us and already there are so many events which we are planning. We would love to see new members join us and have an input into the work of the group.

Break the Rules

We will be having a special day of fundraising through our annual 'Break The Rules Day' on 25th October. Please help us raise much needed funds for resources through this sponsorship. Mr O'Doherty will send out a note to explain how you can get involved in this venture.

Scholastic Bookfair

The Scholastic Bookfair will be coming to the school 13th-17th November. As usual we hope as many of you as possible will support this project as every book sold will lead to a contribution of vouchers towards the school to purchase much needed resources.

Transfer Meeting

There is a final meeting for any parents whose child is taking part in the Transfer Test in November.
This will take place in Mr Kilpatrick's room at 6.00pm on Wednesday 4th October

The school will be closed on the following dates inclusively:
Friday 29th September: Staff Training (replaces Tuesday 8th May)
Mon 30th October - Fri 3rd November: Halloween mid-term break; Monday 27th November: reporting to parents
Friday 22nd December - Friday 5th January: Christmas Holidays
Monday 12th - Friday 16th February: Midterm
Friday 30th March - Friday 6th April: Easter Holidays
Monday 7th May: Bank Holiday
Monday 28th May: Bank Holiday

Change of Training Day

Due to the availability of training providers we have had to make one change to the holiday schedule for this academic year. The school will be closed for all pupils on Friday 29th September to facilitate essential staff training for ICT. This day will replace the 8th May which was originally earmarked for training. Tuesday, 8th May will now be a normal school day for all pupils. We are sorry for the change of plans but we are trying to give you as much notification as possible.
