Shared Education

We were thrilled to welcome our partners in the shared education programme, Killowen and Holy Evangelists' Primary Schools to our school on Thursday to begin our work together. The pupils from Mr Gribbin's class met and mingled with the children from the other schools and engaged in activities in the school assembly hall. Last Friday all the pupils attended the Ulster Museum

Parking Arrangements

Again we are sorry to report that cars are still coming up to the roundabout at the front of the school and other cars are driving through our traffic cones. It seems inevitable that the gates will be closed to all cars other than blue badge holders next term from 2.00pm onwards. There are actually cars coming up to and turning on the senior playground while classes are taking place. For health and safety reasons we ask that all parents in cars use the main car park and walk the short distance to the classroom door to collect your child as the Principal does not want to cause offence by asking drivers to move. All other schools have their gates closed and after frequent requests drivers are still ignoring our appeals. The same principles apply to the morning drop off. Unless you have a blue badge cars are not allowed to drive up to the front of the school.

Summer BBQ

The PTA would like to flag up that this year, like last, they are running a parent barbeque in the Devenish in June. This was a great success last year and we are looking forward to an even bigger response this year. It costs a lot of money initially to reserve the Devenish so we are relying on you our parents to come out and make a great night of it. There will be live bands and prizes to be won. The food is of the highest quality and everyone who was there last year we are sure will come again. The date of the barbeque will be announced in the coming weeks and we are encouraging all our parents and their friends to come along and make a great night even better

Inspection Report

The inspection report from ETI has been published. We are so delighted with the positive comments regarding the pastoral care, standards, management and governance of the school. As you are aware, like most other schools, the inspection took place under the industrial action by teacher unions. This led to evaluations not being able to be completed by ETI. However, as non-compliant inspections go, the inspection team have been very generous with the amount of positive statements they have included in their report. This confirms the great work at an academic, pastoral and governance level which takes place in Our Lady Queen of Peace PS and Nursery Unit day and daily.
The report can be read on the ETI website - Our Lady Queen pf Peace
